Jeevashram is home to over 40 dogs who were either rescued from the streets or abandoned by their owners. Here they find solace in a large area where they spend their days playing with each other, napping in the shade and running around. They are fed and taken care for by the dedicated staff.
Dogs belong in our homes, not on the streets. They are companion animals and need special attention and care. All across India, stray dogs roam the streets looking for scraps of garbage and dodging traffic. Surely they deserve better.
We often find owners wanting to dump their animals at Jeevashram. Please note that we do not accept such animals. As a pet owner, it is your responsibility to give your pet proper care and attention for their entire life. We are at full capacity at our shelter and there is no room for more dogs. Also, dogs are territorial animals and it would be unfair to the Jeevashram dogs to continue dumping other animals on their space. Your pet is a part of your family. Please treat them as you would any other family member. If you are interested in adopting or re-homing an animal, please contact us.
Please consider sponsoring a Jeevashram dog, and help us help these animals in need.
