Wild Life
India now supports 1/6th of the World's population 2.4 and occupies percent of the world area. In effect, the implications for forest cover are grave. Wild life has become a casualty!
Humans have encroached upon the wild life territory and the resulting conflict between human and animal can only result in the animal as the loser. This is particularly in the case of the carnivorous animals such as the tiger and lion.
Where as on the other side, humans have met their match in the monkey, who not only survives but thrives. In fact the monkey not only seems to be coping but actually preferring the human jungle!
Jeevashram is opposed to the confinement of animals in ZOOS for ANY REASON. However, as people continue to have animals in Zoos, Jeevashram will like to work with groups that ensure that conditions in Zoos compete with the best in the in the world as opposed to the present day situation where we compete with the worst.
Similarly Jeevashram would like to see circuses without animals. For more information on the animals in circuses log on to
